The first digital camera I ever owned was a Sony. I bought it because it could take pictures directly onto a floppy disk ... don't laugh, I know I'm old.
After a couple of years, I upgraded to a DSC-F717. I loved that camera. The tilting lens/screen was great for taking discreet candid shots of people and scenery. And, the built in IR nightvision sensor also produced some pretty interesting shots.
When I was ready to take the leap to a DSLR, Sony wasn't making them yet, so I went with a Canon. However, were I just now in the DSLR market for the first time today, I would definitely strong consideration to going with one of the Sony Alpha series.
I'm not at all ashamed to say that I'm definitely a fan of Sony Digital cameras.
